What’s the difference between loading dock plates and the heavier duty dock boards? Although both help with loading and unloading, loading dock plates and walk up ramps are used for hand-operated loading. They are meant for lighter weights, meaning they aren’t built to withstand the thousands of pounds of weight that dock boards can support. Dock boards have curbs and are used with forklifts and other power equipment, while dock plates and walk up ramps are best used with lighter, hand-powered trucks.

Light Duty aluminum dock plates are 1/4" thick with a capacity of 500 lbs. or 5/16” at 700 lbs. Use hand trucks with these plates to get the most efficiency from them. Although they are lightweight, they are durable enough for long-lasting use.  

Aluminum walk ramps are ideal when your facility lacks a proper loading dock. These offer you a loading and unloading platform from the ground to the truck.
