Dock Board VS Dock Plate

Dock boards and dock plates, what’s the difference?

In today’s video we will discuss the difference between dock boards and dock plates, that way you can have full knowledge of what you may be purchasing.

To start both dock board and dock plates act as a ramp for traveling from loading dock to truck. This makes your loading dock more efficient and ergonomic.

A dock board is used for heavier application. Anything that involves a material handling cart, truck, or forklift to move your items takes a dock board. Dock boards have curbs on the edges designed to hold your heavy machinery such as a fork truck in place. It also catches any runoff.

For lighter weight loads a dock plate is the way to go. It has a smaller capacity than a dock board as it is designed for smaller transfers. If you are loading an oddly shaped or bulky item you will want a dock plate as it does not have curbs. It will be easier to move your oddly shaped item on a flat ramp rather than once with curbs.
