P-4 levelers from Presto Lifts. Manually loading and unloading pallets is difficult. It requires workers to bend, stretch, and reach while carrying heavy loads. It's time-consuming, labor-intensive, and the risk of injury can be significant. These problems can be eliminated with the use of a pallet leveling device like the Presto P-4. Its powered lift mechanism allows workers to adjust the platform height so that pallets are always at the most convenient and comfortable height for feeding and offloading.  The units pan style platform has a lowered height of only 3/8th of an inch. This means loading and unloading can be done with an ordinary hand pallet truck. A forklift is not required. In this example, the worker uses the foot control to raise the top layer of boxes to an easily accessible height allowing him to unload them with no bending. Notice that the narrow side panels allow the worker to step up close to the load- minimizing reaching and stretching as he accesses each box. When a layer is completely removed, he simply raised the load for easy access to the next layer and continues unloading. He repeats the process as each subsequent layer is removed. The P-4 unit takes up only slightly more floor space than an average pallet so it can be used anywhere in the plan. The narrow side panels and open front of the P4 allow workers to load and unload comfortabely from any of three positions. A photo-sensing I stops downward platforms travel when the beam is obstructed by an object such as a worker's foot. The P-4 includes heavy-duty lifting bolts that can be threaded into each side panel. The platform can then be raised just until it comes in contact with the bolts.
